"A close encounter between two matched teams was settled in the final minutes by a headed goal from Fishponds.
Banjo took the lead with a 20 yard strike from Scutty after Lee in the Banjo goal had saved a Fishponds penalty.
Banjo held the lead until well into the second half when a cross somehow ended in the Banjo net before the late winner.
A good game played in the right spirit."
Fishponds Legends Report:
" It was nice to play a proper vets game with 2 proper vets teams both similar age and ability
Ponds went 1-0 down in the first half, Robbo seemed to have butter on his gloves as Badbacks scored
The half time team talk changed the game. Gary Kitchen was told to stay central but stayed wide, I think he struck a good rapport with the Badback fans as he spent most of the game next to them. Gaffer Brownlow searched and found his teddy in the changing room
A tactical change saw Gary Kitch substituted (rested for the last 20) Ben Johnson missed an open header from 6 yards and another good opportunity from a free kick received from Yinka
Colin Whiting hit the post from 20 yards. I thought he was going to pop his leg again
Mark Peacock drilled a shot from outside the box, when I say drilled it was more like dribbled however he made up for that with a stunning shot (when I say shot I mean cross) which the keeper caught then threw in his own net. This was definitely an OG and the keeper gave Robbo his gloves back after the match
The winner, a last minute bullet header by MOM Andy Harper was credited to Gary Kitchen and I quote Harps the MOM "anyone who can serve up a goal on a plate gets my vote"
On the balance of play Ponds edged it and just about deserved the win. We still have a way to go and need to be more consistent"
