Chew Magna Vets Report:

" Chew Vets kicked off their season with a cup game against 78cc where they ran out with a 7-2 win. Chews first goal came on 20 minutes after a blocked shot the ball fell to Chris Mountford who smashed the ball into the roof of the net from 10 yards out. This lead lasted 10 minutes when 78cc equalised following a break down their right hand side their forward hit a shot which chews keeper should of dealt with but unfortunately the ball slipped through his hands and into the net.Chew immediately went 2-1 up from the kick off with Ryan Hastings chipping 78cc keeper from the half way line direct from the kick off having noticed the keeper was standing on the edge of his 18 yard box. Steve Kembury should have increased chews lead but failed to find the empty net from 3 yards out (we are still all wondering how this happened), so the score remained 2-1 at half time. After 10 minutes of the second half the 78cc forward then scored a second, when again going down on the right hand side he hit a unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net. Chew then went 3-2 up when Fran George cut in from the left hand side and hit a low shot into the net. The same player then made it 4-2 when following some good work from Hastins, who then finally passed to George to score his second. Chris Mountford then got his second when the ball fell to him following a save from 78cc s keeper he calmly side footed the ball into 78cc net. Chews 6 goal came from Antony Cutler who chipped the keeper from wide out on the right hand side (or was this a cross). Chews final goal came from Chews keep who had been relieved from his goal keeping duties and following a corner from Hastins, the ball found the head of Cornelius at the far post to make it 7-2. The game was played in the right spirit and all the best to 78cc for the season. "
