"It was a frustrating first half for Chew as despite being on top for most of the half they found themselves 1-0 down as Russell scored a neat breakaway goal on their first chance. Chew created lots of opportunities, but they were all spurned. Chew had plenty of subs on the day, while Russell were playing well with just the 11. The pattern continued at the start of the second, but Chew continued to press and finally got the equalizer from a cool finish from Lewis, who quickly notched a headed second. Russel began to tire now, and Chew had plenty of fresh legs to call upon. Cornelius scored the third with rifled shot and then Lewis completed his hat trick when Cornelius laid on a slide rule pass for him to shoot into the top corner. Also a mention for a fine debut for Nathan Randall in midfield."
Russell Athletic Report:
" Typical start of season game for Russell. With no subs and an average age closer to 55 than 45 its
almost inevitable that we would succumb to Chew Magna's 5 extra pairs of legs. Having said that we had a number of opportunities to go further ahead. And as mentioned CM had numerous chances also squandered. "
