"A decent cup tie against quality opposition. This game could of gone either way and only the lottery of penalties decided it."
Chew Magna 45's Report:
" 1-1 at Full time and 5-3 after penalties, a real cup tie closely fought from start to finish. Both sides were evenly matched and both sides created chances in the first half. After a period of pressure Chew thought they had scored and were celebrating and walking back to their own half, when after persuasion , the referee decided to consult with the linesman before changing his mind and ruling the goal offside. It was then Barely who took the lead, and then withstood pressure from Chew before Smith equalised with shot into the top left hand corner. Chew were on top now and had several chances to win it near the end but were kept at bay by fine saves from the Barely goalkeeper who was outstanding throughout the game. So to penalties and to begin some well taken pens by both sides Cornelius and Lewis scoring for Chew. to make it 2-2. But now the difference between the two teams was the Barely Keeper who saved two penalties and scored one as well. Chew Gutted, Barely elated. "
