Charfield 35's Report:

" A competitive and good natured Vets game played in the right spirit. Pill Utd started the brighter of the 2 teams having some good early possession and went close to opening the scoring with a curling shot from the edge of the box, which the Charfield keeper managed to get finger tips to and turn round the post. Charfield soaked-up the early pressure and grew into the game creating some gilt-edge chances, but the Pill keeper was in top form and equal to everything. Charfield thought they’d broken the dead-lock and finally beaten the Pill keeper with a firm header from centre-half Tony Hutchinson, but the crossbar came to the rescue – the teams going in 0-0 at half time. With the momentum with Charfield, coupled with some high-pressing the deadlock was finally broken early in the 2nd half with a tidy finish from left midfielder Manish Jadeya. This was soon followed by a 2nd from Danny Tomlin after his cross looped straight into the net…..well if it’s good enough for Harry Kane! The 3 points were cemented after a 3rd with Danny bagging a brace. Pill Utd continued to press and probe but weren’t able to unlock the Charfield defence with the final score finishing 0-3. Pill Utd exemplified everything that a Vets side should be & hence a 9/10 Corinthian score – best of luck to them for rest of the season."
