"Good game and to be fair not a lot in the first half. Charfield went down to 10 men due to an injury so that help Clevedon. Played in a good spirit and hope these guys have a good season."
Charfield 35's Report:
" After our last 2 games got cancelled at the 11th hour, it was great to finally play a game after almost 2½ months, despite it being against top of the table & on a quite soft pitch. Kicking up hill we started well & it was fairly even before we gifted Clevedon their opener. Then following some good work by Danny Tomlin in the middle of the park to release striker Mike Hart, we were level with a beautiful chip to beat the on-rushing keeper. We could have taken the lead when Mike made a penetrating run into the Clevedon box, only to fire wide of the far post. Clevedon began to show their quality & continued to press, but without really troubling our keeper, but then another mix-up in defence gifted Clevedon their 2nd, soon followed by another present for Clevedon’s 3rd after its’ striker knocked the ball past our keeper & slide the ball into an empty net. At 3-1 we were still in the game but an injury 5 mins into the 2nd half to striker John Stokes & with no subs, meant a difficult task become almost impossible. Clevedon exploited the space with its’ number 8 dictating the play from centre-midfield & knocked-in another 4 goals with the game finishing 7-1. Good game played in the right spirit and thank you to Clevedon for laying on some grub afterwards great soup! Best of luck to Clevedon for rest of the season, but no doubt they will secure auto promotion."
