Redland Ramblers Report:

" A fine dry morning, the first for a while, and the first game for a while not to fall foul of the snow and rain. Having lost 8-1 in the previous (cup) encounter Ramblers set their stall out by starting with a defensive minded 4-1-4-1 formation. This seemed to work well with Redland absorbing wave after wave of attacks. Neil in the Redland goal was clearly the busier keeper but rarely had to make anything other than routine saves. A foul in the box led to Classic X1 opening the scoring from the spot, the penalty slotted neatly home in the bottom corner. Ramblers continued to absorb pressure but also created several half chances on the break. Persistence paid off before the break when 'man of the match' Luke sprayed a superb pass to Dan on the right. Dan appeared to have lost the ball but battled until he won it back and set up Mirco to power home from 15 yards to equalise. The second half followed a similar pattern with Classic X1 enjoying lots of possession without seriously threatening Neil in goal. The game was opening up with tempers on both sides spilling over on more than one occasion. Ramblers looked to be hanging on for a share of the spoils until Classic X1 slotted home the winner just 3 minutes from time. A disappointing result but Ramblers can feel justifiably proud of the effort put in by every single player on the field including the referee Andy who with both his assistants handled a tricky game extremely well. The game was not quite up there in terms of Corinthian spirit but was right up there in the quality and competitiveness demonstrated by both sides. "
