Charfield 35's Report:

" Firstly, I think everyone deserves a medal for running around for 80mins in searing heat on a big pitch, not mention the fact both teams started with only 10 players. It was a good start by both teams with some good passing, but it was Longwell who struck first when a dummy took-out both Charfield defenders & left a 1-on-1 for their striker who duly slotted the ball home. Charfield created some good chances & should have equalised before the break, but the Longwell keeper was in great form pulling off some good saves and very quick off his line! Longwell went down to 9 for the 2nd half, it was essentially the same for Charfield after Andy Mc pulled his hamstring, but soldiered-on despite not being able to run. Longwell looked to ‘shut-up shop’ passing the ball neatly across the back & it looked like they would take all 3 points. But, with 10mins left a cross from the right by Ben Pring deceived everyone & ended-up in the back of the net….well, if it’s good enough for Harry Kane….With score level at 1-1, Charfield continued to press & a free kick in the box led to an acrobatic over-head kick (following a great header by myself to keep the attack alive), which somehow evaded everyone on the line & nestled in the bottom right corner. A draw would probably have been a fair result but hey that’s football! Big thanks to the Longwell manager John for helping to get the game on (following postponement in early March due to snow.)"
