Avon Retreads Report;

"Think Nobby has said it all. Definitely a close well fought game until the hour mark when 3 quick goals by Redland knocked the stuffing out of us. You could see why they clinched the title- good outfit. Our boys did well but like most of our season, scorelines don't match the game-play."

Redland Ramblers Report:

" Ramblers needed to win this game to secure the championship but it was Retreads who had looked most comfortable early on, only Paul’s heroic efforts in the Ramblers’ goal keeping them at bay. After 10 minutes Dan’s pressure nearly put Ramblers in front when a blocked clearance rebounded just over the bar. Dan came close again with a shot that went just wide of the far post. A few minutes later Mark’s cross found Neil unmarked at the far post to head home, 1-0. Another low shot to the keeper’s left nearly gave Neil his second. Just on the half hour Dan nipped in to take the ball around the keeper and slot home from a tight angle, 2-0. Retreads pulled one back straight from the restart when a cleverly worked move found a forward unmarked on the left, 2-1. Ramblers looked nervous and several half chances followed before Neil made it 3-1 seizing on a defensive error. Retreads had further chances before half time but nothing clear cut. They did not have to wait long into the second half when a forward pass looked as if it was going out but stopped on the goal line, the Retreads’ forward stealing it from the Ramblers’ defender (no names mentioned Jambo) to slot home and bring it back to 3-2. This seemed to be the catalyst Ramblers needed, a great cross from Neil was met by Mark who headed down only to see the ball bounce agonisingly over the bar. End to end football followed with several long range efforts failing to find the target. A splendid solo effort from Dan beating 3 defenders in the process made it 4-2. A great run from Neil, slipping the ball to Dan made it 5-2. Pricey battled superbly to feed Dan who scored again, 6-2. Jason nearly got on the score sheet when his header from a corner hit the bar. A pin pint accurate cross from Dave enabled Neil to head home with aplomb at the far post, 7-2. Retreads thought they had pulled one back at the death only for it to be ruled out for offside. The win gives Ramblers a long awaited championship and promotion. It was undoubtedly deserved although the score was a little harsh on Retreads who were competing right up until the last 20 minutes. An enjoyable encounter with in the right spirit by both teams. "
