Warmley Rangers Report:

" After this seasons long and successful cup run came to an end in the first round Warmley began their league campaign away to Pill United. A long trip for the Warmley faithful saw a low number of tickets sold in the away end - a total of 0 fans making the trip to see their heroes kick of their 2018 Div 5 season. Rangers fielded a similar team to last weeks fixture, with the returning Chinny making it back from Prison in time to kit up, a debut from Dan Jefferies had the away fans intrigued to see exactly what their new signing had to offer. A rare start for manager Nick Tucker who was needed to fill in at centre back - and fill in he did with a wonder strike of a free kick that no keeper in the world would have been able to save - although Pills keeper got a hand to it and ended up pushing it into his own net and should have done better. With Rangers off to a good start they grew in confidence as the first half went on. A decent delivery into the box from the impressive Ports saw Sean Dacey notch his first after challenging with two defenders - two nil to Rangers. Not long after it was three. Chinny soon after coming on showed no signs of the career threatening ankle injury that has had the Warmley medical team working hard for a week or two. He received the ball in lots of space and drilled his shot across the keeper finding the back of the net for his first goal for Warmley following his summer transfer. The half finished with Warmley three up but with Pill still in the game, the home team looking dangerous from set pieces. The second half started with Jon Roost coming on for Kev Hounslow to make his debut - with both playing well. Pill again continued to look like their best chance of scoring would be from a set piece - and to be fair they were unlucky to not score, with a combination of decent goalkeeping and some 50p headers stopping them do so. Warmley had more chances to extend the margin, yet an open goal from 3 yards out proved too difficult an opportunity to take for talisman Phil Podger. Dacey and Chinny both had good chances but the Warmley fans had to settle for a three nil score. Man of the match - Alex Joseph Muppet of the match - Phil Podger"
