Recliners Youth Report;

"With another postponement looming, the search for a way to get the game on eventually took us to Lansdowne in a force ten gale. The pitch however was in great condition and a game of football eventually broke out. Our ref cried off due to the extra distance, as did several of our players, meaning Warmley kindly offered to ref the first half. Within ten minutes they were two up, the first a break away with just a hint of offside, the second a wind assisted moonshot from the halfway line. Recliners pulled one back when a great cross from Miguel was volleyed in by Helmi. Ivesy was then put out of the game when a high foot caused a nasty cut above his eye. The last 11 Recliners battled on till the break and the score remained 2- 1. We started brightly in the second half and it was a really good game until Biccy pulled up with a hammy strain and, although he went in goal, we were now down to 10 and half. Warmley's best goal was the third, a great ball whipped in from the right, the striker tucking it away from six yards. A fourth followed a Recliners mistake giving the ball away in misfield. Helmi scored a consolation when his cross got blown into the net. Warmley added two more late on as tired bodies led to silly mistakes and with another player unable to run due to injury, the ref blew up with 3 minute left on the clock. Aching limbs were soothed by a couple of pints in the Balthwayt Arms. Thanks to Dann for helping to get the game on and for providing subs to ref. "

Warmley Rangers Report:

" The twist & turns that preceded this fixture was worthy of an episode of Eastenders. One minute the game was on, then it was off, then it was being played at a different venue, then it was off again. Finally the perfect venue was found and the game was on. Breathtaking stuff. During the game Warmley went 2-0 up through Neil Thomas & a spectacular effort by Phil Podge from the halfway line, which showed all the hallmarks of someone who knew how to use the Lansdown wind to their advantage. Recliners pulled one back before half-time however there were still sufficient minutes remaining of the first half for Chen Lau to do his best Bruce Lee impression. Of all the games for this to happen in, it had to be against the Chairman of the Corinthians League... In the second half, Recliners were down to 11 players and the extra legs of Warmley eventually showed. Neil Thomas and Phil Podge both bagged 2 more goals each. Thanks to Recliners for the game and on behalf of Warmley Rangers, I apologise to Matt for Chen Lau’s demonstration of brutality."
