"Fair play to Nailsea, the fixture might not have been played but for their help. Top manager. We were preparing for the worst as we lost a couple of key players as Sunday came around. Throw in a 4am session in Weston followed by the boxing for our keeper and the CB tasked with doing most of the running due to a celebrity appearance from Ry, the stage was set for shipping goals. But we started strong, with some great, penetrating posession football and finished the first half five up. Whatever Tony said to them at half time worked as Nailsea started strong in the second half - Jose's going to give him call before the Arsenal - with two goals raising the prospect of a nervy finish. But thankfully we stuck another in with 15 or so to go and as it does, it lead to a couple more. Top performance from Ed Bicknell grabbing five (four headers!), with Gregg, Pearcy and Benni making up the rest. Sharples was unlucky hitting the upright twice from long range strikes. All the best to the Nailsea lads for the rest of the season."
Nailsea Vets Report:
" To say there were difficulties with this fixture would be an understatement . There were pitch problems, ref problems, player problems but somehow we managed to get the fixture played. Stu from Rapid was very good with communication throughout which was really helpful. We had 5 players pull out over the week so we had to beg steel and borrow from our 45's. It was a bit of a mismatch, especially in the first half where we went in 5-0 down. We had a bit more bite in the second half and scored a couple though Lyle B and Pender but overall it was a pasting. Nice that Rapid came back for a post match beer "
