Wick Gerry Hatricks Report:

" With the venue switched from Clevedon Utd to Clevedon School, both teams started brightly in the blustery conditions on a bobbly surface. But it was Wick who took advantage of the downward slope and the wind to take the lead through a solo effort from Scott Young after 20 mins. Young’s pace was causing Clevedon’s defence problems on the counter, but it was a foul on Jimmer after 27 mins that lead to Marc Ashley’s freekick being brilliantly saved by Clevedon’s keeper Mark Jordan. Clevedon were always a threat and went close after 40 mins, but Wick’s keeper Matt Crane was equal to it. The half finished 1-0 to Wick. Wick made a couple of substitutions at HT, but it was Clevedon that came out the blocks the quickest in the second half and after 55 minutes scored to make the score 1-1. Wick didn’t let the goal fluster them, remained patient which paid off when after 65 mins Lardy crossed from the left hand side for Rob Warren to bundle in from 5 yards. Young’s pace, switched to right midfield was Wick’s outlet and from a resulting run and cross, Clevedon could only manage to force out for a Wick corner. Stu Mountford took the corner kick and played it deep into Clevedon’s six yard area and after a scramble, Andy Summers popped up to drive in from close range to make the score 3-1 after 75 mins. Clevedon were not giving up and played some nice inter-changing football in their midfield, but Wick’s defence remained resolute. Wick’s Rob Warren had a few more chances, both saved well by Mark Jordan, one being a clear one on one. 5 minutes from time, Lardy got his deserve for all his hard work latching onto a Stu Mountford pass to slot home from just inside the penalty box. A great game played in good spirit against a very good Clevedon side. Good luck for the rest of the season. Wick’s MOM - Scott Young, best game this season. Great pace and desire"
