Lyde Green Veterans Report;

"Ashley Vets 7 - 2 Lyde Green Vets Missing some key players (and Dan), the long trip out Hallen this morning clearly made everyone very sleepy as we went 3-0 down before even managing to string a few passes together There's a no blame culture at this club, and rightly so, but Andy's failure to provide changing room music can't be overlooked as the real reason for the lethargic start With Pellowe booking a holiday on a matchday weekend (who does that?) captain Carter took charge of the team this week as we set up in a new 343 formation. I don't think that had any reflection on the result and at 3-0 we did play much better, pulling one back through a close range finish from Martin following some good build up play down the left. We had the ball in the opposition box quite a lot but Ashley defended in numbers and cleared up well. Apart from a decent Martin effort that hit the bar we came no closer to scoring a 2nd The 2nd half didn't start well and it was 5-1 before we knew it. And, like the first half we then had a period on top and managed to grab a second, this time scored by Wayne (honestly) who volleyed in on the angle into the far corner. (Honestly) But, we never pushed on and we conceded 2 more before the end. To be fair, Ashley were definitely the best team we've played this season and they had made sure of putting out their best side knowing it would be a tough game for them Things worth a mention- - The weather was nice - Ben wore a vest - Lee inspired Wayne's goal with some quality half-time advice - Yan was eating grass - Nathan owes Phil an apology - Colin's shout on being accused of a bad tackle, 'If I was trying to take you out you'd have fucking known about it' - Lee's money collection skills not quite up there with Jim's - All Andy's fault MOTM - Lee Lee"

Ashley Vets Report:

" A really competitive, enjoyable game. We were pleased to score a couple of early goals at the start of each half. Lots of good play from both teams throughout, followed up by a pint for all after the game. "
