"Wick started the better of the 2 teams with more possession but found it difficult to break down a well organised Nailsea team. With 15 minutes gone Nailsea took the lead with a break away goal catching out the Wick back four to slot past new Wick keeper Ben Cripps. Wick continued to play some neat football but were unable to make any real penetration. With 30 mins gone Craig broke down the left squared to Gregg but some how between the keeper and central defenders Nailsea managed to smuggle the ball away. Nailsea soon went 2-0 up follow a mistake by Big John when last man his pass was intercepted by Nailsea player who run through to finish well. Wick needed to get something before HT, and kept pushing to get back in game. Craig Hiller was a constant threat, but it was Matty Davis on the right, who will 10 mins remaining, cut inside but saw his powerful drive well saved by Nailsea keeper. With only a few minutes to half time Wick got a life line to get back into the game again it was Matt Davis causing the Nailsea defence trouble this time his cross went in off the far post. Wick started brightly in 2nd half and managed to level following a great cross from Chico, headed in from 6 yards out by Craig Hiller. It was not long until Wick took the lead this time the keeper made a great save from a Matt Davis header but Gregg reacted quick to head the rebound across 6 yard box to put Wick 3-2 up. Wick made it 4-2 when Craig beat 2 Nailsea defenders and slotted home. Wick continued to put pressure on the Nailsea defence, who were very strong. Chris Davis (Spotty) had a coupe of opportunities to square the ball but instead shot wide on 2 occasions. With 10 mins left though Spotty got on score sheet follow a great through ball that he used his pace to run on and slot past keeper. This was a good competitive game Nailsea started well and proved difficult to score against in 1st half but Wick made some changes at start of 2nd half that enabled them to dominate and take game away for Nailsea. It was played in good spirt by both teams and want too wish Nailsea all best for rest of season. Thanks to the Nailsea lads for coming in for a beer and a bite to eat "
Nailsea Vets 45's Report:
" Temporary management for a second game in succession so a brief report. By all accounts we held our own in the first half and deserved the lead which might have been a two goal cushion had it not been for a lucky opener for Wick. Wick made a number of changes for their second half and their significantly younger legs made the difference as they eventually levelled then went on to win comfortably."
