Cardiff Northern OB Report;

"A dull and overcast afternoon saw the NOBS arrive at Estadio Caldicot for their BCL fixture versus 78cc. With 2 previous hammerings of the same opposition under our belts, the warnings against being complacent weren't heeded as the midfield were outplayed by 78cc's skilful Number 7 and it was the same player who opened the scoring after a NOBS attack was broken down after holding the ball way too long, midfield and defence were too far apart allowing space and despite Stuart Cross making a save, the rebound fell to the 78cc man to beat Kevin Phillips on the line to score. Northern then woke up, and almost immediately capitalised on move down the left with Rhys Simmons and Gareth Nobrega breaking forward, Nobregas cross was cleared out to Mark Wishart who half volleyed the ball into the net from just outside the box. Nprthern settled better when Richard Cross dropped into holding midfield alongside Nayo Kirkpatrick and Northern took the lead with virtually the last kick of the half when Ashley Prowse neatly flicked in a cross over the keepers head for 2-1. Half time changes disrupted the NOBS rhythm but it took a mistake from Stu Cross, misplacing a pass to Matt Rowley who on chasing down the forward into the area only succeeded in hacking him down to give a penalty which was easily converted for 2-2. The errors then continued as Nayo and Nick Perry got in a mix up and gave the ball away allowing a fast break and although Stuart again made a save the rebound again fell favourably to tap home for 3-2. Northern got back in the game and started creating chances, however it took a hopeful ball to Perry in the box, foolishly the 78cc defender shoved him in the back, and Rowley stepped up to convert for 3-3. This started a brighter period of play for the NOBS and they regained the lead after a lovely ball from Richard Cross found brother David darting in from the left flank to smash the ball home at the near post for 4-3. Sadly despite an excellent performance it was Kev Phillips who made the error to lose the ball for 4-4 misplacing a backpass to Stuart which was collected down the right wing and with suspicions of offside 78cc's number 14 tucked home at the back post to complete the scoring. Points shared and NOBS mom was Kevin Phillips."

78cc Report:

" End to end game that have some decent goals and penalty each. Fair result."
