"Chew were without their keeper keen and striker Cornelius was a late substitution in goal. Russell were quickly out of the blocks and Chew were out of sorts,
and having to battle to stay in the game, this turned out to be the theme of the match with Russell taking the lead 4 times
and Chew battling back 4 times. The football wasn't pretty but Every Chew player put in a "shift". Russell's first
goal came after 6 minutes after a defensive error, then Chew equalized through Smith. Russell dominated the first half
and took a 2-1 lead , but Chew dug in and avoided going 2 down. Lewis equalized with a brave header from a Williams
corner with virtually the last kick of the half. The second half was closely fought with Chew playing better, Russell again took the lead, before once again Smith equalized for Chew. A superb free kick from Russell made the score 4-3 and Chew made a change in goal with Bart's taking over. Chew refused to give up and Lewis snatched the equalizer. There was still 20 minutes to go and both sides strove for the winner but the defenses held firm and in the end the draw was the right result as a defeat would have been harsh on either side. A great testament to team spirit and resilience by Chew despite being outplayed for much of
the first half."
Russell Athletic Report:
" Chew report pretty much says how the game went. Another game for Russell where many chances just failed to be converted. Chews resilience stood firm. Another enjoyable game. "
