Match Reports

Chew Magna 45's Report;

"This was a great battling performance by Chew against a very strong Wick side who are clearly destined to win Div 2 this season. The first half was tight, with a hard fought midfield battle restricting the chances. Chew were unable to hold on and Wick scored a scrambled opener just before half time. In the second half Wick took control of the game, . After a fine free kick from Lewis was acrobatically saved by Wick's keeper. Chew continued to battle till then end, credit to all their players. Good luck to Wick for the rest of the season"

Wick Gerry Hatricks 45's Report:

" Wick started the game playing down the slope and made the early running with a few good interchanges out wide and looked comfortable on the ball. Chew Valley vets started to make the extra man in centre mid pay playing some neat football but the back 4 of Wick were well marshalled by Gary Reilly ensuring there were very few sights on goal for Chew Valley. Wick started to get the ball under and got in behind Chew Valley on a number of occasion but could not manage to find the net. With 30 mins gone Stu Mountford the ball in the net but it was ruled offside. As half time approach wick had a spell of pressure that saw them take a deserved lead. Clinton managed to fire in from a few yards out after a goal mouth scramble following a corner. Wick started with a change of formation to match Chew Valleys 5 in midfield and this started to pay dividends as Wick created a number of chances making in 2-0 with 60 minutes gone. Clinton's neat flick on was collected by Raggy who lobbed the keeper. Chew Valley kept going and brought good saves from Chris Davis who saved a free kick going in top corner and a low shot down by his front post. As Chew pushed forward looking for a way back in game, Wick hit them on the break and this time it was Raggy's run and pass that set up Clinton for a easy finish at back post. Chris Garland put the game out of sight with a tap on for the 4th. MoM was "Big John" after a dominate performance in centre of half. The game was a very competitive game but played in good spirit Wick would Like to wish Chew Valley the best for rest of season."
