"Finally we managed to get a date late in the season for this re-arranged last fixture of the season postponed after the cancellation due to the snow in March. It's usually a tightly fought contest with Barely and today was no exception. Barely had the better of the first half but Nailsea remained solid at the back and with few chances for either team the score was goalless at half time. Nailsea found their rhythm in the second half and began to calve out more chances; notably a stinging shot from Pete Overton that was on it's way into the top right corner until the Barely keeper managed to reach high to his left to make a superb double handed save and push the ball over the bar. The deadlock was broken with about 25 minutes remaining. Pete featured again attacking a high ball in the box with a strong header goal-wards. The keeper made an initial save but Alex Plenty was first to react to a loose ball and tapped home from a few yards out. Nailsea were comfortable for the rest of the game and could have made it more comfortable with a second as Darren Penny rounded the keeper but found the side netting with the goal gaping (one he'll want to forget) Great to finish the season with another win. It's not in our hands and although it's unlikely, the league title could still be ours if Re Union slip up in their remaining games. "
Barely Athletic Report:
" A scratch Barely team competed suprisingly well against the leagues second team. Barely played well throughout but unfortunately lacked penetration in the final third. On balance Nailsea just about edged it certainly finishing the game stronger. "
