"Shipham came out of the blocks very quickly and for the first 10/15 minutes Chew were rocked back on their heels. After weathering this initial storm Chew began to assert themselves on the match as their midfield took hold of the game. After some nice build up play Smith calmly slotted home the first. Lewis then quickly added a second, and then a third a lovely header from a precision Cornelius cross. Allen drove home the fourth before Lewis scored the best of the lot, a 30 yarder from outside the box, hit with the outside of the boot curving into the top corner to complete his hat-trick.
So, 5-0 at half time and virtually straight after the restart Murphy made it six, with a low drive after his first shot had rebounded off the post. The goals then followed in a steady stream as Chew played some clinical passing football against a disheartened Shipham. Murphy added a second, and there were goals for Cornelius, Moran, Williams (direct from a corner) a second for Allen, and Kilroy, making amends for his missed penalty. The final score 12-0 which was hard on the Shipham lads.
Shipham AFC Report:
" Well, it started ok, at least for 10 minutes or so.
Then it all went downhill very badly very rapidly.
Probably the worst football we've played for quite some time, and that's saying something!
A couple of skilful and competitive midfielders made a big difference, together with some poor defending all over the pitch and a loss of heart.
Never mind. Some lovely roast potatoes at the Bear and Swan, enjoyed in the sunshine in the beer garden.
Well done to Chew Magna who will be pushing for promotion."
