Red Star 45's Report:

" An ultimately comfortable win for Red Star in distinctly uncomfortable January conditions. Red Star won the toss, presenting the dilemma of how to take on the legendary Shipham pitch in what was always going to be a game of two halves. The Reds chose to go uphill and were rewarded with an opening goal against the run of gravity. Dunc's low cross from the right was met with a crisp 18 yard finish by Steve coming in from the left - this goal the ultimate fruition of about 25 years of barren practice, a true triumph for hope and persistence over ability. The second half increasingly succumbed to the cold and wet conditions. Red Star were never entirely secure until fairly late on when Waj finished acrobatically from Gareth's fine cross. He then doubled his tally with a penalty shortly after. If it was handball then it's doubtful the miscreant felt it, as things were beginning to go numb by then. A very good spirited game, hard to remember a single free kick, though opponents beware of Shipham's mindgames with the old "we've lost the keys to the changing rooms" trick. Chips a welcome reparation."
