"Hastily rearranged for a 3g in Midsomer Norton to try and beat the weather, Decliners traveled south more in hope than expectation following our drubbing in the reverse fixture. Norton Hill sports centre has the warmest changing rooms in the league and with the underfloor heating turned up to toasty, it was job to get people out on to the pitch. Rapid play some very nice football with real quality in the midfield and for much of the first half we were chasing shadows, although we kept them at bay for a good 20 minutes before JT in goal allowed a fairly tame shot to squirm through his legs for 1-0. On the stroke of HT a lovely cross was tapped in at the back post and Decliners went in 2 behind. The second half was a more even affair, we pushed up, had lots of possession but struggled to make decent chances. A couple of errors near the end allowed Rapid to make it comfortable, but the scoreline was a little harsh on a Decliners side that continues to show some signs of improvement. Game was played in an excellent spirit, thanks to Justin for rearranging at short notice to ensure we played."
Rapid Dementia Report:
" John Travolta flew in personally to watch this one but landed at Filton as he wasn't informed of the change in venue.
Manager Gregorys squad dwindled down from 16 to 13 on match day with James Henton reporting illness on Saturday night, a fever I believe.
With Brum rolling up late as usual the team talk was held on the pitch - 'Look who's talking' was the message as the strategy was laid out for the team.
The match started with Decliners controlling possession and Rapid struggling to get the ball held up front 'Grease' was the word as Ant Presley failed to control the ball to feet. However Rapid took the fight to Decliners and battled hard, Darren James cutting in and firing the first after the keeper spilled the ball. The second came after a very good move just before half time with Sam Morton, once again enjoying that luxury free role, netting the first of this weeks hattrick.
The second half saw Decliners really contending and the midfield battle was intensified. 'Get Shorty' was the shout as Rapid attempted to nullify 'Gaffers' authority on the game. The 'Face Off' wasn't to last and Rapid went on to get two more goals. Much credit must go to the defence this week who 'Moment by moment' worked hard to keep a clean sheet. Paul Gay to be named MOM. Well played Decliners offering very good competition and for agreeing to come all the way out to play your home fixture!"
